Die to Your Will so God Can Work Through You

  • Date: August 7, 2019
  • Verse: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 6:11)
  • Summary:

We have been talking about the renewing of our hearts, a refreshing of the spirit for this hour, the age that we're living in. The Lord is building and working on His tabernacle for us, both individually and also the corporate body of Christ here and we are to be encouraged that He is the Master builder, and He's building that that will be for His glory. He said, "Upon this rock I'll build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18).

We Need to Like What God Likes

  • Date: November 26, 2018
  • Verse: “But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.” (Psalm 115:3)
  • Summary:

We think we're so sneaky. We think we can get away with things. God is omniscient and guess what? He is omnipotent, and you are not going to get your way! Period! Throw it out, because our God is sovereign. It makes life easier, so just figure that out today. Get the right theology and surrender. It'll make life much easier on you. He will do whatsoever He pleases. That means He'll raise up some people and bring down others.

Nothing Thwarts God’s Purposes For Us

  • Date: November 21, 2018
  • Verse: “But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.” (Psalm 115:3)
  • Summary:

Lt's talk about how the awesomeness of God is able to get into our hearts and into our lives. How do we confront that on a daily basis, the ability to receive that grace? First of all, let me share with you that you will never, never, be able to come and attain that place that makes you worthy. It's always a gift. It's always grace. It's always the mercy of God to us, isn't it? But it is the will of God for us.

So let's turn to Psalm 115.

God’s Goodness is Great

  • Date: November 19, 2018
  • Verse: “Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!” (Psalm 31:19)
  • Summary:

Goodness is God's purpose for us, kindness is God's purpose for us, but there is a thief that is running around seeking to devour us, isn't there? There's a conflict constantly in the kingdoms that are warring (the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness), and they're at war. There's a constant conflict, and Satan is going about seeking whom he may devour. He's come to kill, steal, and destroy, hasn't he? Some of us have had our health stolen. He comes to kill, steal, and destroy.

God is Good in All Things

  • Date: November 12, 2018
  • Verse: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
  • Summary:

Jesus is coming back real soon. The stupidity is supernatural, and so don't get caught up in your emotions, in these last days, about the stupidity of the politics of our country. Just rejoice that the Lord is coming back soon. Otherwise you'll get distracted and upset for no reason at all. God's will is being done!

We're going to talk about that a little bit. We have been talking about the goodness of God-and so thankful for that.

A Content Heart is Always Thankful

  • Date: November 5, 2018
  • Verse: “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Chris…” (Ephesians 5:20)
  • Summary:

In 2 Timothy 3:2, it says that the signs of the end times will be a people who are unthankful and unholy. A content heart is a thankful heart. Do you go around telling people how thankful you are for what God has done in your life, how satisfied you are, how you need nothing more in life? You're absolutely content. That's thanksgiving.

Be Satisfied with God’s Goodness

  • Date: October 31, 2018
  • Verse: “And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD. (Jeremiah 31:14)
  • Summary:

With every trial, with every temptation, every test, He makes a way of escape. Oh, the judgment that Jeremiah pronounces upon these people, this captivity in Babylon. It sounds like a total devastation. He says in Jeremiah 31. verse 28, "And it shall come to pass, that…as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict…" that's God talking about His covenant people. He said, "I am absolutely going to devastate them." For what purpose? To restore them! "I'm going to save them from themselves.

Embrace the Goodness of God

  • Date: October 22, 2018
  • Verse: “Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!” (Psalm 31:19)
  • Summary:

Sufficient to the day are the evils thereof. Just believe Him now in the land of the living. Believe to see His goodness right now. What is His goodness? Here's His goodness: you're in a trial and He's standing by you! He said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you. You go in the fire, I'll be with you there. You go in the pit with the lions, I'll be with you there!" I want you to know something: there's always a fourth man in the furnace, praise God! God's good! I'd rather be in the fire, in the furnace with God, than in the penthouse without Him.

Just Believe and See That He is Good

  • Date: October 19, 2018
  • Verse: “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.” (Psalm 27:13)
  • Summary:

The goodness of God. The word "goodness" is very interesting. When we say, "God is good," we are really saying, "God shows favor and goodwill toward me." God is always showing favor and goodwill. "Well, some of this stuff doesn't look very favorable." All of the adversities that we face in life have one purpose behind them: Christlikeness. All of the adversities that we face in this life have one purpose behind them: that we be conformed to the image of Jesus, that we die to self. "I don't understand." You never will. His ways are higher than our ways.

God is Our Sufficiency

  • Date: October 17, 2018
  • Verse: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” (Psalm 23:6)
  • Summary:

What do you think: are you content? The cause of discontentment is that you don't believe the love of God for you. You don't believe that Jehovah is Jehovah Jireh. We miss the sovereignty aspect of God. We want to instruct Him like Job did. We're not content to be part of the twelve. In our ambition, we want to argue who's the greatest. Does anybody in here have a little ambition that needs to die? I'm not talking about ambition for the kingdom, I'm not talking about ambition to embrace the cross and die to yourself.

Our Contentment is in God

  • Date: October 15, 2018
  • Verse: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1)
  • Summary:

I want to talk a little bit about: how do we see God? How do you see Him? Do you see Him the same in your trials as you do in the mountaintop? God hasn't changed. He has the ability to change all circumstances, amen? Why shouldn't we worship Him? He is bigger than the circumstances. The dealing with God in our lives today has nothing to do with the momentary ease of life, the comfort, the blessings that God has bestowed upon us: the bigger house, the bigger bank account, the job that brings with it a better aspect of self-esteem.

The Law is Merciful and Good

  • Date: October 11, 2018
  • Verse: “And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.” (Exodus 33:19)
  • Summary:

Let's turn to the book of Exodus for just a moment. I want to look at a couple of different passages that I think will be a blessing to us. Exodus 33, as the Lord begins to reveal Himself to Moses and the covenant is being established-that great Mosaic covenant that includes the Law. The Law is good and holy and just. What a great gift Father gave us in the Law! Some people see the Law as restrictive. The Law is our schoolmaster that prepares us for the lordship of Jesus in our life. It's the light that illuminates our path and keeps us from straying.

God is Always Good

  • Date: October 9, 2018
  • Verse: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)
  • Summary:

God is good! It's kind of interesting, there are some of the different cultures wherever you are. I found myself at times out among these and I make that statement, "God is good," and the reaction is, "All the time!" Anybody ever ran into the "All-the-time"-ers? I've often wondered when that immediate response comes back-you say, "God's good," and it's, "All the time!"-I wonder if they really believe that? As we sit here now, we say, "God is good!" The fact of the matter is He is good all the time. He's good when things aren't going good.

Self-Deception Puts You in Danger

  • Date: October 5, 2018
  • Verse: “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.” (Galations 5:14-15)
  • Summary:

Turn to Galatians, Chapter 5. He's talking about the liberty they have from the law, and how they're to walk in the Spirit and not trust in anything in the flesh. They can't trust in circumcision for their righteousness. It's by grace through faith that we're saved. Then he comes down here, and he says, "You guys have run well." See verse 7. "But who's hindering you now? Don't fall back into a trust in the law and works." Then he makes an interesting statement in verse 9. He says, "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

Be a Godly Example in Conflicts

  • Date: October 3, 2018
  • Verse: “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)
  • Summary:

Many of us get in conflicts over things that are not sin. We're in conflict over our opinions or over our feelings that have gotten hurt. "It didn't go my way." We have that in our marriages. Things that are causing conflict and confusion have been there for years sometimes, and it's not even sin. It's just that your feelings that have gotten hurt. Guess whose feelings don't get hurt? It is a dead man. "Yeah, but you don't understand, Pastor." Yes, you're right. I don't have any feelings. My feelings get hurt very easily. I'm serious.

Unity Begins at Home

  • Date: October 1, 2018
  • Verse: “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)
  • Summary:

We've talked a lot about the love of God. And in the love of God of course, we talked about the love of God being expressed to us and through us as it relates to our ability to forgive one another. If we don't experience and know the love of God, we'll never have the grace to forgive one another. As we looked at forgiveness, we saw all of the different aspects of aphiemi, that Greek word that holds us to such a standard. Both forgiveness and love are to be "even as I." "Even as I," God says.

Let Yourself Be Loved

  • Date: September 28, 2018
  • Verse: “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35)
  • Summary:

We've been dealing with the love of God and understanding what the Holy Spirit emphasizes so clearly. "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" (John 13:35). As a fellowship, I believe we have been a great example of that over the years. We don't compare ourselves with anybody else. We compare ourselves with the Word of God, and because of that we know that there's room for improvement.

Love Loves Truth

  • Date: September 24, 2018
  • Verse: “Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth…” (1 Corinthians 13:6)
  • Summary:

Love rejoices in the truth. It's what we shared a little earlier. It doesn't feed on what is wrong; it feeds on what is right. We see the things that we can relate together in the Word of God, and we edify them in that and we commune in that and we are not looking for evil or wrong. Love rejoices in the Word; it rejoices when people choose the Word against their own emotions.

Love Is Not Calculating

  • Date: September 21, 2018
  • Verse: “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil...” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
  • Summary:

Love thinks no evil; it doesn't calculate the evil that was done to us. We have laughed about and talked about the woman who says, "Well, I've forgiven them; it's forgiven." What's forgiven? "Well, do you remember the night that you said this?" No, I don't really remember that. (That sets it off). "You don't remember? It was raining, it was at 6:32, and you had on that blue shirt!" Love doesn't calculate the evil done to oneself; it doesn't keep a record of the wrongs.

Love Is Not Irritable

  • Date: September 19, 2018
  • Verse: “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil...” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
  • Summary:

Love is not sharp-it's not irritable. It seems like we are talking about certain times of the month, here, in some cases. But may I remind you that, for most, that's just an excuse; because your flesh is subject to your spirit. These are things that, through prayer and through choice, will cause you to be able to more greatly control your flesh. I don't deny the existence [of PMS]. I'm just saying that, for some, it's more controllable than they would like to admit; because we, many times, like for that to be the time that we can vent our flesh.

Love Is Not Touchy

  • Date: September 17, 2018
  • Verse: “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil...” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
  • Summary:

Love is not easily provoked. We have all heard this over the years; love is not easily provoked. The one phrase I like to start this with is this: Love is not touchy. What was that thing the kids used to say? "No touchy." I can't even remember what it was from; one of those Disney Films-The Emperor's New Groove. I'm sure some of you all saw that. You see, I'm like you are as parents: you know the cartoons, but you're embarrassed to tell anybody that you see them because your children are watching them? Well, as a grandparent you go through it again.
