Faith That Will Not Be Denied

  • Date: May 24, 2017
  • Verse: “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Like 18:1)
  • Summary:

The question I want to ask, as we read Matthew 9:18-26, is: do you believe you would have been allowed to stay in the house or would you be one that got thrown out? You all remember the story; right? "And Jesus arose and followed him and so did the disciples." Then we see this story on the woman with faith to touch Him and the hem of his garment. It says, "And when Jesus came [verse 23] into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, he said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

Power Manifests in Faith

  • Date: December 10, 2016
  • Verse: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12)
  • Summary:

What I want us to grab hold of as we look at some of these miracles, is to ask what it was in those people that caused the power of God to manifest in their lives. And then realize that maybe a lot of what's keeping the power of God from operating in our lives here as a fellowship, in our lives as a community, and the Christian church in general. Where is the power of God? I'm not talking about all of the fake stuff. And that fake stuff is not even the show of the day anymore. It was, a few decades ago.

Faith Obeys, Not Knowing the End

  • Date: December 6, 2016
  • Verse: “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” (Hebrews 11:8)
  • Summary:

As we look at the Scriptures, we see that without faith it is impossible to please Him. We want to see the full manifestation of our faith. "By faith Noah, [verse 7], being warned of God of things not seen…, moved with fear and prepared an ark." Now, we know the story, so we're not going to stay a long time on this because I want to get to Matthew and look at the string of miracles that are recorded there that Jesus moved in. One of the things that we see about faith here is God's going to put us in some precarious situations.

Faith First for Christlikeness

  • Date: November 30, 2016
  • Verse: “(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” ()
  • Summary:

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, it is the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the substance of things hoped for. And so, as needs arise in our lives, most of us stop and think, "I have a physical need, I have a financial need, I have a need of a loved one who's under the attack of the enemy"; and those things are all legitimate needs. But, we have many other needs that are more important than that. We need Christlikeness. We need patience. We need humility. We need love.

So stop and think for just a moment.

Faith Abounds in the Diligent

  • Date: November 28, 2016
  • Verse: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
  • Summary:

Hebrews, Chapter 11, Verse 6, tells us very clearly that "...without faith, it's impossible to please God." So we're going to talk about the faith of God, great faith and the environment that it operates in. We're going to take a little different approach. We want to talk about the environment that allows faith to freely manifest and not get caught up on the logistics of faith.

There's been a lot of teaching over the decades on faith; a lot of it is biblical, a lot of it is heresy.

Inseparable Love

  • Date: November 21, 2016
  • Verse: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ” (Romans 8:38-39)
  • Summary:

We don't want to take the love of God for us for granted. In Revelation, God said in that second chapter as He is speaking to the church in Ephesus, "You guys have been doing a really good job, but I still have a little bit against you. There are some things you need to change. You've lost your first love. You've become great people about Bible study, and you've kept the doctrine pure. But do you remember where you've come from?"

He said, "You've got to return to your first love. Don't forget the grace and the goodness that God has brought to us.

Delivered from the Flesh

  • Date: November 14, 2016
  • Verse: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
  • Summary:

When we're talking about the works of the spirit, many of our minds are going towards deliverance from the financial situation we're in or the sickness that's in our bodies. But I want us to realize that we are talking about these things to be delivered from the flesh and to be able to take on the character of Christ. It's when I'm weak that I finally realize that I can't do enough to please God, and I'm going to stop trying. Finally, His strength is able to work in us and begin to show forth the fruit of the Spirit. "I'm no longer doing things out of obligation.

Glory in Your Weakness

  • Date: November 9, 2016
  • Verse: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
  • Summary:

In the midst of his trials, Paul says that he's having revelations in abundance. Then he says, "Unless I should be exalted above measure, there was given to me a messenger, a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan." Paul came to this awareness. This is a man that in his own strength was above all of his countrymen. He was a success. He was good at what he did. He was a doctor of the law. He was zealous in the midst of his peers and esteemed among the Sanhedrin. Because of his tenacity, he was sent out as a representative to persecute and put an end to the church.

Die to Self

  • Date: November 2, 2016
  • Verse: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
  • Summary:

The thing that most people boast in is their own abilities. "It's my gifts, my strength, my success, and I pray more than anybody else up here. I fast." Is that attitude offensive to you? "I… I… I…" The apostle said it, and I'll show it to you in another area. If that's what you're living in, then Jesus has died in vain as it pertains to you. That's a powerful statement, isn't it? If you trust in circumcision, if you trust in anything that you've contributed to, the death of Jesus is in vain as it pertains to you.

Be Alive in the Spirit

  • Date: October 26, 2016
  • Verse: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
  • Summary:

In the twelfth chapter of 2 Corinthians Paul has a couple of things to say that we want to address, because so many of us are still pursuing God in our own strength. "Without Him, I can do nothing." Philippians says that I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. If you're frustrated in your sanctification process, in your pursuit of holiness, or if others are frustrating you, it's because you're looking at natural ability. We're looking at tenacity, and we're not looking at faith. We're not looking at the grace of God, because it's Christ that's working in us.

Return to Your First Love

  • Date: October 24, 2016
  • Verse: “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” (1 Corinthians 1:27-29)
  • Summary:

Jesus starts off in the book of Revelation speaking to the church of Ephesus. He said, "I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience…" (Revelation 2:2). He's not going to rebuke them for works and labor. He said, "I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

That No Man Would Glory in His Presence

  • Date: October 19, 2016
  • Verse: “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. ” (1 Corinthians 1:27-29)
  • Summary:

The other camp that has been around since the inception of the church is the Judaizers. The Judaizers would be caught up in what many people today are. We hear the word "legalism." "They're legalistic." People say that about us as a fellowship. "They're very legalistic. They're a works church. They're a church that has a lot of rules." What we need to understand is that the Judaizers were saying that you couldn't be saved without works.

Let the Word Speak for Itself

  • Date: October 18, 2016
  • Verse: “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5)
  • Summary:

We have been talking about the need in our lives in this hour that we are coming into. We are going to face two different things by the spirit of antichrist. There is absolutely no difference today than there was in the first century. Satan has no new tactics. We are not ignorant of his devices. Amen? We must constantly guard ourselves against those two camps that will come through the false prophets, the seducing spirits, and the doctrines of devils. Those are the camps of Gnosticism and of the Judaizers. Of course, the Gnostics were given to mysticism.

Accepted in the Beloved

  • Date: October 13, 2016
  • Verse: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:5-7)
  • Summary:

"But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared" (Titus 3:4). Don't you like that? "…the kindness and love of God…" You see, God's mercy and grace are just an extension of His love. He says to us it's "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace…" (Titus 3:5-7). Justified: pronounced righteous.

Do Not be Deceived in Self-Righteousness

  • Date: October 10, 2016
  • Verse: “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” (Titus 2:14)
  • Summary:

"Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people [a people who are set off by boundaries that are designated as God's own], zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee" (Titus 2:14). So we're a people that become zealous for godly works, for the preeminence of Jesus in our midst.

A People Zealous for Godly Works

  • Date: October 5, 2016
  • Verse: “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” (Titus 2:14)
  • Summary:

Titus Chapter 2, verse 14, says, "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." Now, what we hope to finally arrive at in these few studies is that we become a people of godly works. I want to use that word instead of good works. When the Bible speaks of good works, just in your mind think godly works, or think God's work, or think Christ in me, or think through Christ. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Philippians 4:13).

Delight in the Commandments of God

  • Date: October 3, 2016
  • Verse: “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:22-23)
  • Summary:

I'm trying to get us to see the spirit of thankfulness. How many of us have lost that, really? How many of us are feeling, "Man, I'm getting tired and weary in this welldoing. I'm tired of the rules, all these rules." The rules of the church that are in place because they facilitate the rules of the Word of God. "I'm tired of those, and I'm just so busy with life" that I can't be thankful for the One who gave me my life.

Stay Pure and Innocent

  • Date: September 29, 2016
  • Verse: “For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:17)
  • Summary:

Many of our young people that have grown up in this fellowship, you don't think you're all that bad. But, I want to tell you something. Those of us who have been in prison, those of us who have been in jail, and those of us who have been on drugs, and those of us who have been arrested, and the attempted murders and murders and whatever the sins that are so great of a reproach in society today, of the adulteries and fornications, and all of these different things are no greater sins than your independent spirit-"I'll do it myself. I want it my way.

Delight in His Will

  • Date: September 27, 2016
  • Verse: “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13)
  • Summary:

He chooses the foolish things of the world to confound them in their own wisdom! They think they're so wise. They're arrogant! They absolutely believe that you cannot advance without doing it their way. Are we willing to become fools for the gospel? Fools in the eyes of the world. He's chosen those things that He might confound the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things that are mighty. The things that the world despises and counts as weakness.

A Willing Fool for Jesus

  • Date: September 23, 2016
  • Verse: “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4)
  • Summary:

Judging by the masses, by the people that were around, Peter was the shaker and the mover. Peter was that guy who said, "Let's get her done, man." God uses people like that, but He has to break them first. Because 1 Corinthians says (Chapter 1, verse 27), "But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world…" Now, beloved, this is something we're going to have to take a minute and come to grips with.

No Merit in Our Works

  • Date: September 21, 2016
  • Verse: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
  • Summary:

Do you ever find yourself acting like the older brother? How many of us find ourselves as that one and, even when people among us have sinned or they've gone out and they come back repentant, you say, "Man, they're just taken right back in like nothing happened, and I've been here and I've been faithful and I've been serving.
