Power to Touch Broken Lives

  • Date: October 28, 2011
  • Verse: "And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." (Matthew 10:7-8)
  • Summary:

Matthew Chapters 8 and 9 reveal the supernatural healing and deliverance ministry that the Lord was showing as the prototype of what the church should be, because He said, "These things shall you do, and greater things, when I go to the Father" (John 14:12). We need to believe God for signs and wonders and for deliverance. We've lost the power of God, and I'm not talking about just us as a fellowship. The church has lost the power of God because the power of God was being sought as an end instead of a means.

Stay Pure and Innocent

  • Date: September 29, 2016
  • Verse: “For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:17)
  • Summary:

Many of our young people that have grown up in this fellowship, you don't think you're all that bad. But, I want to tell you something. Those of us who have been in prison, those of us who have been in jail, and those of us who have been on drugs, and those of us who have been arrested, and the attempted murders and murders and whatever the sins that are so great of a reproach in society today, of the adulteries and fornications, and all of these different things are no greater sins than your independent spirit-"I'll do it myself. I want it my way.

Delight in His Will

  • Date: September 27, 2016
  • Verse: “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13)
  • Summary:

He chooses the foolish things of the world to confound them in their own wisdom! They think they're so wise. They're arrogant! They absolutely believe that you cannot advance without doing it their way. Are we willing to become fools for the gospel? Fools in the eyes of the world. He's chosen those things that He might confound the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things that are mighty. The things that the world despises and counts as weakness.

A Willing Fool for Jesus

  • Date: September 23, 2016
  • Verse: “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4)
  • Summary:

Judging by the masses, by the people that were around, Peter was the shaker and the mover. Peter was that guy who said, "Let's get her done, man." God uses people like that, but He has to break them first. Because 1 Corinthians says (Chapter 1, verse 27), "But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world…" Now, beloved, this is something we're going to have to take a minute and come to grips with.

No Merit in Our Works

  • Date: September 21, 2016
  • Verse: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
  • Summary:

Do you ever find yourself acting like the older brother? How many of us find ourselves as that one and, even when people among us have sinned or they've gone out and they come back repentant, you say, "Man, they're just taken right back in like nothing happened, and I've been here and I've been faithful and I've been serving.

Keep the Law

  • Date: September 14, 2016
  • Verse: “And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” (Mark 10:17)
  • Summary:

Jesus said to the rich young riuler, "Why callest thou me good? there is none good but…God" (Mark 10:18). And then He answers him and says, "Thou knowest the commandments…" We've talked about this before, how He speaks off of the second table of the Decalogue. "Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

We are Nothing without Jesus

  • Date: September 12, 2016
  • Verse: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Galations 2:20)
  • Summary:

In this study we want to look at the subtleness of self-righteousness that abides in a Pharisaical environment. Self-righteousness denies the finished work of Jesus. Let's look at what this young man had to say here in Mark Chapter 10. He comes to ask "What must I do…" and Jesus' response, I think, probably took him aback. He could have been asking a question something like this. "Good Master, what must I do to be good? I've got a checklist here and what else do I have to check off to be good?" Jesus' response is very interesting.

Run to Jesus

  • Date: September 9, 2016
  • Verse: “And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” (Mark 10:17)
  • Summary:

There is only one doctrine, and that one doctrine includes grace and works. Faith and works. Rest and obedience. So let's look at the rich young ruler for just a moment, or this rich young man, and see what we might have in common with him. Mark, Chapter 10, let's look at verse 17. There are a couple of things we want to look at in verse 17. I'm sure you've experienced this. Now remember, this young man was in a position of power. He's wealthy. If you've got wealth, you've got power within the sphere that you're operating in. Wealth in the world's system is a sign of success.

Godly Works Are Not Done in Your Own Strength

  • Date: July 11, 2016
  • Verse: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • Summary:

The thing I think we need to beware of as a people is that we don't become Judaizers. And among the Judaizers was a sect that we could be very easily seduced into called the Pharisees. This fellowship could very easily become Pharisaical, self-righteous, wanting to hold people to our standards, to our disciplines, and in doing so negate the grace of God. We've got to be careful as a fellowship that we don't go in that direction.

The Lord is My Helper

  • Date: July 4, 2016
  • Verse: “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” (Hebrews 13:6)
  • Summary:

Turn to Hebrews for just a moment. In Hebrews 13, as he's coming off of His admonition to unity and love in the twelfth chapter, He says, "Let your living, your conversation be without covetousness, the cares of this world, the weights, and the sins and be content with what's such things as you have. I will never leave you nor forsake you. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, I will not fear what man shall do unto me" (Hebrews 13:5-6).

The promise of God is sure to a thousand generations. He's not a man that He can lie.

Trials Are For Our Good

  • Date: June 29, 2016
  • Verse: “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered…” (Hebrews 5:8)
  • Summary:

    We see that trials are for our good, for working holiness in us. We've seen out of James 1 that it says, "Count it all joy when you fall into different temptations, tests, and trials. Knowing that it works patience in you, consistency" (James 1:2-3). How many of you know that there is a pattern in our lives that goes up and down? It's in every one of us and nobody can deny it. Hopefully it's progressing upward over time. But we all move up and down, don't we? Trials bring about a consistency;

What Are You Holding Onto?

  • Date: June 22, 2016
  • Verse: “For it is God which workethin you both to will and to do of His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13)
  • Summary:

"I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his offspring begging bread" (Psalm 37:25). Is anybody here, besides me, disgusted with your lack of faith? I'm disgusted with my lack of faith. I'm disgusted every time a twinge comes to my mind, when something occurs and I'm concerned for my daughter. If something happens and I think she might be in jeopardy or harm. I worry that Satan will throw some darts at her and say, "I'm going to take her too.

Self is Revealed Under Pressure

  • Date: June 20, 2016
  • Verse: “For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.” (Hebrews 12:10)
  • Summary:

Where are you? When you experience temptations have you really been able to, under the hand of God, count it joy? James 1:2). "This is God's; I understand what Father is doing for me. I'm going to rejoice in the wisdom of my God. I'm going to embrace the heart of that righteous cloud of witnesses that cries out, 'Though He slays me, I'm going to trust Him' (Job 13:15). I'm going to serve Him, praise God!" How do we know who and what we really are until the pressure is on? Peter, we all remember this, had that image of himself, "Though they all forsake you, don't worry about me.

Sanctified Through Chastening

  • Date: June 15, 2016
  • Verse: “For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. (Hebrews 12:10)
  • Summary:

Where are you? When you have experienced trials under the hand of God, do you count it joy? "This is God's; I understand what Father is doing for me. I'm going to rejoice in the wisdom of my God. Chastened as Sons

  • Date: June 13, 2016
  • Verse: “If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?” (Hebrews 12:7)
  • Summary:

Turn to Hebrews for just a moment. Let's establish a couple of these principles; it will be good for us to have our eyes on it. He says in Chapter 12, "Make sure that you are laying aside every weight and sin that surrounds you, that holds you captive" (verse 1). He didn't say pray that it would go away. He said to lay it aside.

Obedience is not works. "It doesn't matter if we are laying these aside or if this is still allowed in my life, there are just certain things that are hanging on and God understands.

God is Good

  • Date: June 10, 2016
  • Verse: “Why callest thou me good, there is none good but God.” (Mark 10:18)
  • Summary:

So many of us are still under the delusion that if we're in the will of God, everything is going to be fine. Many of us are so Pagan in our thoughts about God, we think if things are going well then we must be in good standing with God. The more good I do, the more God will do good for me. Does anybody still experience that periodically? It's absolutely a Pagan thought. The reality is that God is good. The Bible says that God is good and that He is the giver of every good and perfect gift.

Trained in Gethsemane

  • Date: June 8, 2016
  • Verse: “And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.” (Luke 23:46)
  • Summary:

We've been talking about when Jesus was on the cross and He cried out, "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me" (Matthew 27:46)? It had nothing to do with His lack of pursuit; did it? We know that it was a consequence in the life of His disciples. When Jesus was in His greatest hour of agony and spiritual warfare and was crying out to God the Father, "If it be possible let this cup pass from me" (Matthew 26:39), the Scripture says He got up, went over and found the disciples.

Less Seeking Brings Seduction Near

  • Date: June 6, 2016
  • Verse: “The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.” (2 Chronicles 15:2)
  • Summary:

If I read this right the prophet says, "If you seek Him He will be found of you." The Scripture makes it very clear, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25). If we're living in the hour of the day of the Lord, if this thing's approaching, then it shouldn't been an "even less," it should be an "even more." What's the concern? The concern is seduction. Think back in your own life; I think back in mine.

Actively Draw Upon the Promises of God

  • Date: June 3, 2016
  • Verse: “The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.” (2 Chronicles 15:2)
  • Summary:

I want to bring you back to 2 Chronicles where it says in Chapter 15, verse 1, "And the Spirit of God came up on Azariah the son of Oded And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; [This is classic Scripture that we're all very familiar with] the LORD is with you while you be with him." That's a great promise; isn't it? "The Lord is with you, while you be with him." The Scripture says He is the faithful God. It would be interesting if it just stopped there.

The Lord Will Not Fail You

  • Date: June 1, 2016
  • Verse: “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
  • Summary:

We're on the journey of trying to answer that question: How do we get from "My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me" to "Into your hands I commit my spirit"? Both of those were absolute statements of conviction. He absolutely was experiencing the torment of the perceived absence of God's presence. The torment and absolutely speaking in absolute faith and conviction as He gave Himself over and said, "Into your hands I commit my spirit."

Knowing that in this death, you've got to die before the resurrection.

The Paradox of the Redeemed

  • Date: May 27, 2016
  • Verse: “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5)
  • Summary:

All of the great men of God had their Gethsemanes. All of the great men of faith had their doubts. All of the great and mighty warriors experienced the torment of fear in "the valley of the shadow of death. [But we] will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me" (Psalms 23:4). But our journey there, the real journey and whatever it might cause in our lives, all that strengthens us we're ashamed of.
