The Body Edifying the Body

  • Date: April 25, 2012
  • Verse: "I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?" (1 Corinthians 6:5)
  • Summary:

"And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as He is pure" (1 John 3:3). The cry of the Psalmist is: "Cleanse Thou me from secret faults" (Psalm 19:12)! Now, our faults are not secret to us, they are the hypocrisy that we are living, and we are asking God to cleanse us from these things. You could almost understand it this way: "Lord, bring us to the light so I can be delivered, so somebody can help me get out of this, someone who will lift my hands up in this warfare.

Faith is Seen in Doing

  • Date: June 26, 2017
  • Verse: “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock” (Matthew 7:24)
  • Summary:

Faith is the ability to move beyond our understanding, our doctrine, into trust: The wise men are those that hear My Word and-? (Matthew 7:24). Faith is doing it, not looking for more biblical support. Beloved, at the mouth of two or three witnesses, let every word be established; amen? You don't have to have two or three books. "Seven hundred verses, and if I get seven hundred verses, then I'll be able to really-faith will rise up and I'll be able to trust God." Hear His Word and do it!

You see, the reason we study more is because we're afraid to believe God.

Faith Trusts That Jesus Will

  • Date: June 21, 2017
  • Verse: “And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” (Matthew 8:2-3)
  • Summary:

How much do you trust God? How much do you trust Him when you can't see it and it is absolutely impossible in your eyes what you're perceiving right now in the circumstances for it to manifest, but you stand up and say, "If God's for me, praise God, nobody can be against me"? All things are possible to he that believeth! This is the confidence that I have in Him that if ask anything according to His will, He hears me, praise God! And if I know that my God hears me, I have absolute confidence that I have the petitions that I've desired of Him.

The Wise Man Does the Word

  • Date: June 19, 2017
  • Verse: “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:” (Matthew 7:24)
  • Summary:

I want to talk about the simplicity of child-like faith, of coming and trusting God absolutely. Proverbs says trust in the Lord-Proverbs 3-"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart…." Do you believe He'll catch you when you fall? Doesn't the Scripture tell us that His eyes are upon the sparrow? He knows how many sparrows drop in a day. He knows the hairs upon our head. How much more does He care for us; amen? Now, we all respond immediately, "Yeah, I believe He'll catch me.

Faith Trusts the Lord Exclusively

  • Date: June 16, 2017
  • Verse: “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” (Psalm 118:8)
  • Summary:

    What we're looking at is God working in us; the ability to trust in Him to have full assurance and reliance that His promises are yea and amen. They're sure to a thousand generations. The Scripture tells us very clearly in Psalms 37, "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass" (Psalms 37:5). As you're turning over there, the third verse just prior to that says, "Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed." Now, that's a good Scripture for all of us-we all like to eat;

Faith is Pure Reliance on Jesus

  • Date: June 12, 2017
  • Verse: “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” (Romans 4:20-21)
  • Summary:

This is a troubled world. But in His presence is fullness of joy, praise God! And, favorably expecting that to manifest in our lives, we come into His presence, and we find that rest. There is a rest, the Scripture says, for the people of God. But we have to labor to enter into that rest.

Faith isn't something that's passive. Faith is an active force. It can express itself in passivity, but it's an active force, because faith is believing in the promises of God-that favorable expectation, a faith that sets out against.

When Faith Rises, Satan Come Immediately

  • Date: June 8, 2017
  • Verse: “And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.” (Mark 4:15)
  • Summary:

Anytime revelation comes to us-you see we weren't teaching during the altar call this morning, but I want to tell you something. Many of you received the Word during the altar call. Many of you had the Holy Ghost from within bring you rhema. Rhema came to you: the Scriptures began to rise up in your heart. The Holy Ghost said to you, "These signs shall follow them that believe; they will lay hands on the sick and you will recover. The prayer of faith shall save the sick." All of the Scriptures that have to do with healing, God was speaking to many of you. That's rhema.

Patience is Built Through Trials

  • Date: June 5, 2017
  • Verse: “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” (James 1:2-3)
  • Summary:

Turn to the Book of James. These are passages we are all very familiar with. We want to refresh ourselves. "James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad" (James 1:1). Now, they were scattered because of persecution, adversity. The church is never at its best until it's being persecuted. The church is always at its best under trial and pressure. And we all hate that, don't we? None of us embraces that. None of us wants that. "O Lord, please send us to the catacombs.

Pure Faith is Rewarded

  • Date: June 2, 2017
  • Verse: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
  • Summary:

Remember the woman with the issue of blood? And what she said within herself, "If I can touch the hem of His garment…." We saw where she got that faith, out of Malachi, the Book of Malachi. "The Sun of righteousness [shall] arise with healing in his wings" (Malachi 4:2). That Hebrew word "wings" means "the border or hem of a garment." That is a very obscure passage. There are times when God will speak to us through obscure passages about His goodness, His righteousness, His desire to heal you.

Persevere in Faith to Touch Him

  • Date: May 31, 2017
  • Verse: “And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.” (Luke 5:18-19)
  • Summary:

We want to continue with our study on faith that prevails. I want to point out a couple of things in Luke, Chapter 5. In Luke, Chapter 5, we get a little insight into an encounter that He had with people that had genuine faith, a people who diligently sought Him in the midst of their need. Verse 17 says, "And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to [iaomai] them.

Who Will Go?

  • Date: May 26, 2017
  • Verse: “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)
  • Summary:

We need to come in simple faith and believe for God to visit us, to see His glory manifested as He shows His power. "Those that come to Him must believe that He is and He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6). Are we like Joshua, who wouldn't leave the tent? Are we like Joshua, who stayed up on the mountain there when the glory came-everybody else was afraid and Joshua said, "I want to get as close to God as I can." Can I share something with you? It is scary to get close to God.

Faith That Will Not Be Denied

  • Date: May 24, 2017
  • Verse: “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Like 18:1)
  • Summary:

The question I want to ask, as we read Matthew 9:18-26, is: do you believe you would have been allowed to stay in the house or would you be one that got thrown out? You all remember the story; right? "And Jesus arose and followed him and so did the disciples." Then we see this story on the woman with faith to touch Him and the hem of his garment. It says, "And when Jesus came [verse 23] into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, he said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

Faith Requires Diligence

  • Date: May 22, 2017
  • Verse: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
  • Summary:

A lot of us have faith and a lot of us begin in faith. Then, just somehow it doesn't get finished. Anybody know what I'm talking about? But those that endure till the end shall be saved; amen? We realize that faith without works is dead. Many of us start in faith, based upon the promise. We have favorable expectation, the hope. The reason that our faith fails is that we don't have endurance. We don't have patience that's developed.

Every Little Sin is Rebellion to God

  • Date: May 15, 2017
  • Verse: “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5:6)
  • Summary:

Many of us don't like to admit our weakness. But until we become absolutely aware of our weakness, His strength can never be perfected in us. As long as there is any trust in our own wisdom, our own abilities, whenever we think we have any rights to our own lives, (You know, that little sin we talked about?) we are absolutely in rebellion against the sovereign authority of God. Let's think about that as we start making our decisions without even considering God, what He would have us to do, or what His priorities are.

God is Looking For Obedience

  • Date: May 12, 2017
  • Verse: “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. ” (Isaiah 30:21)
  • Summary:

We've talked about this independent spirit so much over the last ten years. Can I ask you a question? How many independent thoughts and actions do you take on a daily basis? I'm not trying to get us to paralyze ourselves in having to analyze everything. I just want us to look and say, how many independent decisions do I make? How many times do we go through a day and just absolutely not even consider God in our lives? This coal was taken and put upon your lips and it purged you.

There Are No Trivial Sins

  • Date: May 10, 2017
  • Verse: “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord…” (Hebrews 12:14)
  • Summary:

Look at Isaiah, Chapter 6,verse 6 for just a moment. "Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged." Now, what is that coal and what is the altar that this came from and how big a deal, really, are my sins that I commit on a daily basis? You know, we talked about not blowing this off, "Oh, 1 John 1:9, Oh, I sinned; 1 John 1:9.

Sin Made Ineffectual

  • Date: May 8, 2017
  • Verse: “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” (Romans 6:6)
  • Summary:

We want to look at Romans 6:2-6. We see that we're dead to sin. "[Why do we sin]…that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" There is no place for sin to be dominant in our lives. But it is still active, because John says, "If [we sin] we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). If we're dead to sin, we no longer live therein. We no longer abide in that habitually.

Sin No Longer Reigns

  • Date: May 1, 2017
  • Verse: “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.” (1 John 3:7)
  • Summary:

I want to transition from this particular theological position of "already", that we are already perfect in Christ. We are already the sons of God, heirs and joint-heirs, but not unto glorification. Not yet. So, in the process of this dynamic we call sanctification, we're legally sinless, blameless before God, and yet, literally, we're still experiencing the dynamic of warring with the sin that is in our members.

Dead to Sin

  • Date: April 24, 2017
  • Verse: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2Corinthians 5:17)
  • Summary:

Romans 3 through 8 are just fabulous. If you want to go live there for a few days while we're going through this study, it will be a blessing to you. But Romans 6, verses 2 through 6-primarily 2 and 6-he answers that stupid question that people always ask when you try to teach on grace. "Well, you know, should we just be free to go out and sin? Should we sin that grace might abound? The more I sin, it will show that grace is really real, because God will love me, anyway." And Paul says, "Hey, stupid." He didn't exactly say it that way, but he said, "God forbid.

Alive In Jesus!

  • Date: April 21, 2017
  • Verse: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)
  • Summary:

God, before the foundations of the world, chose you and predestined you to be His son. Can you say, "Praise God!" for that? "What about my nasty behavior?" Change it. It's unacceptable to God. Change it. It breaks the heart of God. Change it. It mocks God in the world. Change it. Because you've been ordained, you have been chosen, you have been saved unto good works, praise God!

Now, if I habitually continue to live in my ugliness, in my rebellion, in my disobedience-we'll show you as we go on-you will no longer be the sons of God.

Saved Unto Good Works

  • Date: April 19, 2017
  • Verse: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)
  • Summary:

Every biblical imperative, every commandment to abstain, every commandment to pursue brings us over to the thought processes of Colossians, "put off" and "put on"-every biblical imperative to pursue is a call to holiness. Every biblical imperative to abstain is a biblical call to holiness. We see it as rules. It's a map to holiness that brings us into the presence of God. Embrace those. Seek out the commandments of God and use it to compare our daily lives.
