Wisdom From Above is Our Strength

  • Date: March 18, 2019
  • Verse: “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” (James 3:17)
  • Summary:

We're just encouraging ourselves in this study to say, "Okay, let me step back for just a moment and really be truthful with myself and where I am. Am I justifying many of these methods that I'm using?" And you're saying, "Pastor, we all have to work. We're to work and live by the sweat of our brow." We're not saying don't go to work. We're not saying to isolate yourselves from the world. We're saying don't become proficient in the world. We're saying don't seek the treasures of the world, its wisdom, its methodology.

Trusting in Worldly Wisdom Can Lead to Spiritual Death

  • Date: March 15, 2019
  • Verse: “Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” (Proverbs 8:10-11)
  • Summary:

As Father is bringing His people here into the crucible, He said, "Here's how I see you. You may be seeing yourself as those that are the children of the ark, of the covenant. But I want to tell you something. We've come past all of that. You're going to have to have your own personal encounter with Me. And let Me share with you where you are as a people right now. You're a sottish people. You have no understanding, and you're only wise to do evil." (Jeremiah 4:22)

That's a powerful statement, isn't it? "Your wisdom is only to do evil.

The Wisdom of God is Found When Sweating Drops of Blood

  • Date: March 13, 2019
  • Verse: “ Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” (Luke 22:42)
  • Summary:

In these last couple of years, Father spoke to me about a few items that I had. The words that He spoke were not exactly this, but He just spoke to me. And it's hard to convey. This might express it the clearest. "Who do you think you are that you should possess something like that?" When He spoke that to me I looked at that stuff, and it became offensive to me. I said, "I'll never put that on again." And then I never thought anything more about it, that much.

Are You Separate Enough?

  • Date: March 11, 2019
  • Verse: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you…” (2 Corinthians 6:17)
  • Summary:

I really see the Lord, in His compassion, calling us today. Are we hearing that Voice? "Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you" (2 Corinthians 6:17). You know, it's interesting, because I know where our hearts are, generally. I know we're all very similar here.

Acknowledge Your Transgressions and Return to Father

  • Date: March 4, 2019
  • Verse: “Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” (Jeremiah 3:14-15)
  • Summary:

As the prophet was coming and admonishing the people of God in their slumber, He told them that He was going to bring them a judgment. He spoke toward them the need for them to turn in Jeremiah Chapter 3, verse 14, as a backsliding people. "Turn back to Me." He had divorced them (Verse 8).

This is a powerful truth that we see here; God divorced His people. Scripture says, "He hates the putting away" (Malachi 2:16).

Seek the Lord in Simplicity

  • Date: February 25, 2019
  • Verse: “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty…” (1 Corinthians 1:27)
  • Summary:

The people that God is looking to use are the simple people. I don't mean stupid. I don't mean poor. I don't mean tattered clothing. The simple people. Not cluttered with the things of this world. Simplicity in the sense of purity. Simple in the sense of not cluttered in our minds but resolute on the truth. The foolish things, the weak things [in the eyes of the world]. It doesn't mean we're stupid and weak. It means the world sees us that way for the choice of wisdom that we're operating in.

Let God in His Wisdom Promote You

  • Date: February 22, 2019
  • Verse: “For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.” (Jeremiah 4:22)
  • Summary:

If we're going to be masters of the kingdom, we must be temperate in everything else. And the problem is we're wise toward evil, as the prophet Jeremiah said. We're masters, many of us, of the world's methods and temperate in the things of the kingdom of God. "Now, don't get carried away! I mean, you know you're going to have to have a job, and you're going to have to take care of yourself. So don't get carried away in how many hours you're spending in prayer and how much you're serving in the kingdom.

Covet God’s Truth

  • Date: February 20, 2019
  • Verse: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)
  • Summary:

He told the people (Deuteronomy 7:2), He said, "The one thing that I want you to do-when you go into this land, I want you to utterly destroy all of their gods. If you don't, if you don't become separatists, if you don't become holy, if you allow your sons to marry their daughters, these idols will come in and ultimately leaven and destroy you." Did they? Yes. We're now coming into this-we're living here in this kingdom as that spirit of antichrist is rising up in a way that's never been known by man.

The Word of God is Your Wisdom

  • Date: February 18, 2019
  • Verse: “Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” (Deuteronomy 4:6)
  • Summary:

To Israel, as they're getting ready to go in and possess the land, he said in Deuteronomy 4, Verses 1-2 , "This is your wisdom: keep my commandments; do them. Do not add to, do not diminish, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you." He goes on in Verse 6, "Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom…"

Now, that agrees exactly with what Jesus says in His teaching in the Sermon on the Mount, isn't it? Keep and do-keep and do-His commandments.

Do Not Dilute the Word of Truth

  • Date: February 14, 2019
  • Verse: “Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you. Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.” (Deuteronomy 4:1-2)
  • Summary:

As we look at wisdom, we want to look a little bit at what God has spoken to His people and how we can practically be in this world but not of it. See, being in it but not of it just means this: that we're going to be infiltrating this world's system but with the wisdom of God as representatives of the kingdom of light we are going to be in opposition to. "Not of it" means not only that we're not partaking, "not of it" means we are opposing to the place of destruction, to the place of dominion, with the common sense knowledge that light overcomes darkness.

Wisdom Chooses Based on God’s Word

  • Date: February 11, 2019
  • Verse: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)
  • Summary:

In our discussion of wisdom, I want to emphasize the word "choose" here, because choice is vital as it comes to this subject that we're talking about. Which kingdom are we moving in? What wisdom are we moving in? Which do I apply at this particular time? Wisdom is the ability to choose the best course of action-the ability to choose the best course of action based on knowledge and understanding.

"With your wisdom," the wise man says, "get understanding.

Wisdom Applies the Word of God Properly

  • Date: February 8, 2019
  • Verse: “For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.” (Jeremiah 4:22)
  • Summary:

"When I return, will I find faith upon the earth" (Luke 18:8)? Just before the judgment of God-just before God allowed Israel to be taken into Babylonian captivity, the prophet Jeremiah stood up and said, "You know, the problem with you guys is this. You're not wise toward spiritual things. You're not wise toward kingdom things. You are wise toward evil." Now, here's the evil. We're not talking about being wise to know how to be a better seductress, wise to the evil of how to make better moonshine.

The Wise Follow God’s Wisdom

  • Date: February 4, 2019
  • Verse: “For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.” (Jeremiah 4:22)
  • Summary:

There's a passage in Jeremiah that I want to use as the text. It's Jeremiah 4:22.. This is actually the title that we're using for this morning, "For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge" (Jeremiah 4:22).

That's an interesting statement, isn't it? Now, remember when this was written.

Live In God’s Wisdom

  • Date: January 28, 2019
  • Verse: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)
  • Summary:

We need to be delivered from the spirit of this age. Just as this power of antichrist is in so many ways manifesting itself-and we're going to talk toward that a little bit. One of the things that we need to protect ourselves from in this age, at this hour, is the subtle invasion into our lives, into our minds, of the worldly wisdom. It's the enemy of our faith. There are so many ways today, by the world's wisdom, to keep ourselves safe; to bring provision to ourselves; to attempt to answer many of the dilemmas, the questions, of life.

The Lord With Us

  • Date: January 15, 2019
  • Verse: “But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.” (Genesis 39:21)
  • Summary:

Genesis, Chapter 45, verses 5 and 8, tell the story of Joseph. We all know the basics of this story and how he had the dreams about God raising him to a position of authority and that the day would come when his brothers would bow down to him. We saw that didn't go well with the brothers, right? We learned something from that. Maybe we ought to keep some of the revelations to ourselves about how great we are. Some of us like to go around sharing how great we are. How much we've heard from God. "Let me tell you.

God Has a Cross For Us

  • Date: December 31, 2018
  • Verse: “Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?” (Proverbs 20:24)
  • Summary:

God's sovereign and He has the right to change our course at any moment. When we begin to realize that, it brings about a rest. It takes away that natural uneasiness. Does anybody here not like change? You don't like to change? How many of you really have trouble changing when everything is going very well? I've shared the story many times so I won't belabor the point. I could not, in the natural, have had anything going better for me than when I was living on my scholarship-a young kid having everything that I wanted-and God invaded my life.

Don’t Set Your Tent Pegs Too Deep

  • Date: December 25, 2018
  • Verse: “A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)
  • Summary:

Proverbs 15, verse 9 tells us, "A man's heart [creates or invents] his way: but the Lord directeth his steps." This has always been a real assurance to me in my life because I've made plans. And, I've gotten off-course. You say, "Well, Pastor, how do you know that you've gotten off-course?" Because God redirected my path. Now being off-course isn't always being in sin and being off-course is not always being in the flesh. Did you know that we can be on the right path too long? Let me explain what I'm talking about.

Who is Building Your House?

  • Date: December 20, 2018
  • Verse: “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)
  • Summary:

Look over at Proverbs 19:21 for just a moment. "There are many devices in a man's heart…" I know within myself I have many devices, many, many. I'm one of those guys that has a lot of ideas, a lot of plans. I was reading my first grade report card recently. We're remodeling and so we have to clean everything out because of the mess and all of this stuff. It's a nightmare. And so we're going through that and in the midst of this throwing away papers and cleaning out stuff that's accumulated for 30 years, I came across these report cards again.

He Orders Our Steps – For His Glory

  • Date: December 14, 2018
  • Verse: “A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)
  • Summary:

We are looking at the sovereignty of God, the fact that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and we're to delight in that. We're to delight in where Father has us at this time in our lives. One of the things that we have trouble looking at many times is do we qualify to be that good man? In Jesus, we do. That's the good news and so we are that good man as we are living in Him, abiding in Him, and His words are abiding in us. He said, "I'm going to orchestrate your steps in life. I'm going to order them for you.

In All Things Give Thanks

  • Date: December 10, 2018
  • Verse: “There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.” (Proverbs 19:21)
  • Summary:

I just want to encourage us, when sometimes you think it's out of hand, sometimes when you think Satan is preeminent and he's in charge, when you seem to think that there's no way that these circumstances-all of these circumstances that demand failure, demand defeat, demand the loss of your job, demand the loss of your home, demand the loss of your life, whatever it might be, I want you to know something. Nothing happens if it's not in the counsel of God's will. So in the midst of it all, we give thanks.
