  • Scripture: “The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand …"; “For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?” (Isaiah 14:24, 27)
  • From God's Sovereign Goodness

Isaiah 14 says it this way, as we're looking at the greatness, the bigness of our God. He is omnipotent, all powerful. He is omniscient; He knows all things that are going on without the help of The Washington Post and CNN. But the great prophet Isaiah speaks here in the fourteenth chapter. This prophetic Scripture, which is two-fold for the time that it was written-Babylon and for the prophetic deliverance that will come to Israel in the time of the Tribulation. It reveals the heart and character of God, Who He is. Isaiah 14, verses 24 and 27. "The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:" Verse 27, "For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?"

He's the baddest guy on the block, man. His will is irresistible. The nations are a drop in the bucket. He raises up kings, and He brings them down. Not my will; Thy will be done. As we go into this hour, so many of us are going to be perplexed because of our will, what we rationalize should be truth and justice, what we've always believed, what we've hoped for as we watch the death of the American dream. Are you going to be able to accept that and in the land of the living see His presence as sufficient, His will as just and right?

You know, I'm just old enough to have watched the transition of the death of this nation. I'm just old enough to see the loss of all of our rights. See, many of us here aren't even old enough. You've heard about it, but most of you have grown up under regulations. When I was growing up, we weren't regulated. They didn't make us wear seat belts. You didn't have to wear a helmet to ride your own bicycle. We rode those bicycles with three guys and no brakes. We drank water out of hoses. I won't get off on that-this is one of my pet peeves, all these regulations-but we were free! To watch us being internally destroyed-see, just like you, my natural man-not just like you; more than most of you, my natural man is rebellious. My first response in the natural, when somebody says, "Don't walk on the lawn," my question is, "Why? Is it your lawn?" "No." I'm walking on that baby.

So in the natural, I don't do well with regulations, but after death to this old man, I found some new regulations. It's the law of God. It's perfect. It's holy. It's just. It cleanses my heart. It illuminates my path. So I see the regulations of God that are being put on us in this hour to keep us from the destroyer, and I understand that God sees beyond my eyes. He's trying to order my steps. The steps of a good man are ordered. In His sovereignty and in His goodness He's trying to change my heart to become free from this hold here on this world. There's a lot in me that is patriotic. Our generation was that way. The generation before us-I mean, you emulate your parents in so many ways, and that great generation, these young kids that signed up to go to war, man. In my generation you had to make a choice. See, my generation didn't sign up to go to war and lie about their age so they could go fight for their nation. My generation was faced with two choices. Some of us went to fight, and others went to Canada to escape having to serve in the military. It was my generation when this thing all began to die, and the same thing is happening to the church.

So God is looking for a people that are broken and contrite, that are humble, and that tremble at His Word. It's in those people that He's going to show Himself mighty, those people that can embrace His sovereignty, those people that see that God has got a plan, and we go along with His plan and not ours. Most of the church right now is caught up in how they can save America, and we need to be caught up in how souls can be saved. We need to be caught up in how we can get our children prepared for the coming of the Lord and raise a godly seed in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. In God's sovereignty, He's brought us to this place where we can now make decisions.
