  • Scripture: “Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!” (Psalm 31:19)
  • From God Is Good

Sufficient to the day are the evils thereof. Just believe Him now in the land of the living. Believe to see His goodness right now. What is His goodness? Here's His goodness: you're in a trial and He's standing by you! He said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you. You go in the fire, I'll be with you there. You go in the pit with the lions, I'll be with you there!" I want you to know something: there's always a fourth man in the furnace, praise God! God's good! I'd rather be in the fire, in the furnace with God, than in the penthouse without Him. Moses said, "Unless Your glory goes with us, I'm not going".

Do you long to see the goodness of God, to embrace the goodness of God in the land of the living? That requires a decision, it requires believing-- "Unless I have believed..." Make the choice to believe against the circumstances of life. Psalm 31, verse 19, says, "Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou has wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from [all] the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues." The goodness of God manifests itself, with the fear of God being present, with trust, with faith, with reliance, with assurance, that what God has promised He is able to perform.

God's goodness is always available, but it's apprehended by faith and an awareness of the fact that we need to fear God. We've got to be very careful about questioning or judging Him. His goodness manifests itself to the men and women of faith. You want God's goodness to be revealed to you, you really want to see who God is? He said in Isaiah 66:2, "This is the man who I will reveal Myself to." He said, "I'm going to reveal myself to someone who's humble, to the humble man, to the contrite man, to those who tremble at My Word."

In the midst of adversity, we need to tremble at the promises of God and believe those to be true and not our circumstances. Do you tremble at His Word? Do you know what His Word requires of us? His Word requires of us death to self. His Word requires of us to turn our back on the flesh and blood that have raised us, that have been good to us in the natural, when they mock God and defile the temple of God. That's what His Word requires of us. Do you know what His Word requires of you? His Word requires of you to absolutely surrender your substance, all of your life, and follow Him. Do you tremble at His Word? This is what He requires of us, "If you're going to come and follow Me, deny yourself, take up your cross. Then, let's go." Do you tremble at the Word? This is the man that He will reveal Himself to, the man who says, "No matter what You ask me to do, I'm going to do it! It hurts. I don't understand it. Give me a moment to cry, but I'm coming!"

Do you believe God is good? "This is the man that I will make Myself known to." We see the judgment that came upon Israel that Jeremiah had pronounced and the captivity that was to come upon them. Then he makes an interesting statement in Jeremiah 31 about God delivering them. Can I encourage you with something? With every temptation, with every test, with every trial, God will make a way of escape. It may not be in your way, may not be in your timing, but He will not allow us to be tempted past that which we are able to stand and with every temptation He makes a way of escape! He has promised the escape. He has promised that He would be with us in the midst of all trials. He has promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us. God is good! Turn around; there's a fourth man in the furnace with you. You want to know how to see Him? Tremble at His Word. Go to His Word. It will make Him appear!
