- Verse: “And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.” (Genesis 22:7-8)
Let's look a little bit into Isaac over in Genesis. We know he was the promised child. We know that the name Isaac means laughter. Sarah had laughed at that miraculous promise of God. The Scripture makes it very clear that this miracle had come as part of the testing and the trials that were upon Abraham. In Chapter 22, we find Isaac in one of the greatest, I believe, aspects of faith in his life that we need to grab hold of. Genesis 22, verse 1, "And it came to pass after these things, that God [tested] Abraham..." Just something very practical for us here.
