"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation..." (Phil. 2:5-7). Are you actively trying to become less in the eyes of men? It's not for the motive of them thinking you're great. "But [He] made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant..." Remember the environment in which the Master was living. In the Greek culture and in the Roman Empire weakness was despised; pride, arrogance, haughtiness and supremacy ruled.
